The historic Milanese hotel, after a complete restyling designed by Studio Mamo, which has renewed its design in a green version and a renovation that has revolutionized its technology in the name of energy saving and sustainability, reopens with the aim of becoming the hub of the NoLo neighborhood
A destination for business tourism and a reference point for Milanese hospitality since the 1970s, the Concorde Hotel in Milan has decided to reinvent itself by relying on Studio Mamo, which has given it back freshness and modernity with an important renovation project. Part of the Antares Hotels group, which also includes the Hotel Rubens in Milan, the structure now aims to become a point of reference in the NoLo district, the area north of Loreto that has undergone careful urban recovery and is today a lively creative area of the Lombard capital . "The idea of inserting the hotel in the new Milanese district came precisely from Studio Mamo - said Remo Eder, owner of the hotels of the Antares Group - and it was precisely around that objective that the entire renovation project then developed". Thanks to a general renovation which has renewed the interiors, but which has above all updated the technology, the security and sanitization systems, the Concorde is ready to welcome in its new green guise the business clientele associated with meetings and events in its rooms that can accommodate up to 200 people, but also those who choose it for a leisure holiday. The hotel also aims to be a general meeting point in the city with the opening of its restaurant "The GreeneryRestaurant" and its bar to the public and proposing itself as a location for private events.
Studio Mamo: a 360° partner
To achieve its objectives, the Concorde chose a partner who was able to best interpret its expectations: Studio Mamo supported the property with an interior design and renovation project that changed the face of the hotel while retaining its original structure . "We wanted to bring nature to life inside the Concorde, with vertical gardens, bioclimatic pergolas, green design objects and furnishings that have transformed the look of the interiors", he specified Andrea Mamo, referring in particular to the "greener" aspect that characterizes the hotel today. The objective of the investment was on the one hand to make the hotel technologically advanced, with a fresher and "Covid-proof" look, and on the other to make it the reference structure of the new NoLo urban area. In four months, the interior designers of Studio Mamo coordinated a team of professionals who made the structure safe for guests, thanks to modern sanitization systems, eco-sustainable, thanks to a technology that guarantees a reduction in harmful emissions and significant energy savings , and completely new in design. "We tiptoed into the Concorde and we didn't distort its appearance, on the contrary we tried to enhance everything that made up the original structure", he declared Lorena D’Ilio by Studio Mamo.
Cutting edge technology
Not far away from the Central Station, well connected to the city center by the subway located 50 meters away, and located 400 meters from the lively NoLo area of Milan, the four-star hotel reopens to the public completely renovated in the name of sustainability, energy saving and of the most innovative design. “To reposition the hotel, we focused above all on cutting-edge technology – he said Remo Eder – but above all, guided by the Studio Mamo project, we have chosen to link up with the new NoLo district, of which we aim to become the hospitality hub”. The investment in technology and in sanitation and safety systems have made the hotel even more competitive: the heating and cooling systems of the structure have been created with the best energy saving standards, with the "4-way" system that few hotels in Italy can boast and that is the most qualifying point for the hotel. Furthermore, even the home automation system in the rooms and the anti-Covid sanitization systems in the lifts and in other rooms of the structure are today the flagships of a location which, already in 2008, ahead of its time, had invested in energy saving by equipping itself with a new facade that guaranteed better insulation and consequently energy savings.
An eco-sustainable project
With an investment of 2 million euros, the project aimed to reduce management costs but also to drastically limit CO2 emissions. In detail, the works concerned the sanitization of all environments with titanium dioxide technology, the sterilization of the lifts with UV-C ultraviolet lamps and the installation of a LED lighting system with Dali management, which allows dedicated control of the light fixtures. All the carpets and tapestries in the rooms and corridors have also been replaced and all the bathrooms in the rooms have been redone. The restaurant, bar and hall have been refurnished and embellished with original design objects and furnishings that give the rooms a new freshness, such as the walls with vertical greenery and the bioclimatic pergolas inside and out. The flagship of the technological renewal is the "4-way" heating and cooling system thanks to which both hot and cold air can be supplied to the different parts of the hotel according to the needs of the guests. Last but not least, the project envisaged the inclusion of 50-inch smart TVs in the rooms which, with Chrome Cast technology, allow guests to access all platforms from their mobile phones. The icing on the cake: a particular system of card readers that takes the various customers from the lifts directly and only to the floor where their room is located, in the name of safety.
A hub for NoLo
One of the main objectives of the renovated Hotel Concorde is to become an integral part of NoLo, the Milanese area that has undergone a careful urban recovery in recent years which in 2019 definitively transformed it into a well-defined neighborhood. New, multifaceted and lively: this is how the emerging area of Milan is defined today. The acronym NoLo, or North of Loreto, refers to New York's SoHo and intends to indicate an urban area fervent with creativity and populated by young people, hypsters and artists who want to renew its face through art, design, fashion and openness many new activities. The Concorde is located in the immediate vicinity of this area in great artistic and cultural ferment and aims to become its reference point for hospitality, given its proximity to what was once called the Greco-Turro area and which today has a precise identity of the neighborhood, with its evocative paths along the Martesana, with the restored and revalued houses of old Milan that frame the river, the venues that host events and the workshops where designers and artists create and exhibit their works.
The supporters team
The team of partners who contributed to the realization of the project in just four months was made up of different brands: in particular Adtel, which has been operating for 20 years in the system integration, networking and telecommunications market, has dealt with the IT and telephony aspects as an operator specialized in broadband development throughout the national territory. Part of the furniture in the new project was taken care of by Biscarini, which has been offering quality furniture for exteriors and interiors since 1972. Among the most important interventions of CaporaliContract, who had the role of coordinating the works as interior contractor in charge, the intervention on the exterior of the building where he oversaw the restyling of the external doors and windows. General hydrothermal, specialized in the sector of thermo-hydraulic and air conditioning systems, deserves the credit for having taken care of the total renovation of the sanitary water system serving the rooms and a total restructuring of the air conditioning system, the type of which is technically defined " 4-way", which means that both hot water for heating and chilled water for air conditioning are constantly distributed in the hotel's internal system thanks to the presence of four pipes. Moroso participated in the restyling of the Hotel Concorde, characterizing the various common areas of the hotel with its eco-sustainable design furnishings and accessories: from the hall to the lounge area, up to the gallery.
